Quem Botou Essa? - Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 7, 2026. Last updated: September 7, 2026.

No account, no login. What a room holds lives as long as the room does, and goes away with it.

The short version

Quem Botou Essa? is a party game you play with friends. No account, no login, no email. You type a nickname, join a room, and play.

What we ask for

A nickname, and a room theme if you feel like setting one. Both are visible to everyone else in the same room — that is how the other players know who is who.

What is stored while a room is alive

While a room is open, the backend holds:

  • the room code and each player's nickname
  • the avatar they picked
  • the songs they chose (the Apple Music catalog id, title, artist, artwork, and the preview link)
  • votes, scores, and presence timestamps

Storage is Convex, a cloud backend. A room closes after an hour idle, or when the host ends the game. Closed rooms are purged by a scheduled job — none of it is kept for analytics.

What stays on your device

On the web, the game keeps a random anonymous clientId and your volume level in the browser's localStorage. In the iPhone app, the equivalent lives in UserDefaults, on the device itself. That id exists so you can recover your seat if you reload the page or drop off. It is not linked to any identity.

Song search and previews

When you search for a song, the search term goes through our backend to Apple's catalog (the Apple Music API). The 30-second previews stream from Apple's servers. Search results are cached server-side for 24 hours, keyed by the term rather than by player. What Apple sees in those requests is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

What we don't do

  • No analytics SDK
  • No ads
  • No tracking
  • No third-party sharing beyond the Apple catalog requests described above
  • No data sold
  • No purchases

Children and teenagers

The game is for friends already on a call together. Nothing we store identifies a person beyond the nickname they choose for themselves.

Deletion

Everything you produced in a room disappears when the room is purged. For anything else, just write to us.
