Looté - Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 19, 2026. Last updated: September 19, 2026.

Your screenshots are read, translated, and explained on your iPhone. Nothing you capture reaches us.

The short version

Looté is an iPhone app built by Marcello Gonzatto Birkan under the Mellofattura brand. It helps you understand the English on a game's screen: you photograph, pick, or share an image, and the app recognises the text, translates it, and explains it.

The short version: recognition, translation, and explanation all happen on your own device. No account, no login, and nothing you capture is sent to us or to any external AI provider.

Images and learning on your device

Looté processes the images you photograph, select, or share with it. Text recognition uses Vision, and translations and explanations use the system language model, which runs on the device itself. In the version described by this policy, none of that content is sent to Mellofattura servers or to any third-party service.

The app stores your decks, cards, translations, associated images, review progress, English level, and selected game locally, using SwiftData. No Looté account is required.

Permissions and sharing

The camera is used when you choose to photograph a screen. Picking images uses the system Photos picker, which hands the app only what you selected — Looté does not get access to your whole library.

When you choose Looté in another app's share sheet, the selected images are copied into a local queue, in a folder shared by the app and its share extension. This does not give Looté access to console accounts or to the content of other apps.

Retention and deletion

Pending screenshots stay in the local queue until they are handled or removed through the app's workflow. Advancing past or completing a screenshot deletes its copy from the queue; images you saved into cards stay with those cards, in the deck. You can delete cards and decks inside the app.

Deleting those items does not delete the original images held in Photos or in the app they came from.

To erase everything at once:

  1. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage
  2. Find Looté
  3. Tap "Delete App"

Device backups and restores are controlled by operating system settings and services, and may preserve copies of app data.

What we don't do

  • No analytics tools
  • No ads
  • No cross-app tracking
  • No sending your images or cards to us
  • No data sold or shared with third parties
  • No account, no login
  • No in-app purchases in this version

Apple's own system services remain governed by your settings and by Apple's own policies.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated when the app or its data practices change. New features, such as subscriptions or remote processing, are assessed before release and reflected here when needed. Changes are posted on this page with a new updated date.
